8th-grade students explored stations and determined which of Newton’s laws were present. Students are working hard to learn how mass, speed, gravity, and friction affect things in motion!

Amanda Tindall’s kindergarten class at Murphy Elementary recently brought their imaginations to life! Her students drew unique monsters and created background stories for them. Tindall then teamed up with Woodridge Middle School FACS teacher Jessica Miers, whose students were learning to sew.
Miers’ students took the kindergarteners’ drawings and transformed them into real plush creations! Yesterday, Tindall’s class received their handmade monsters, while Miers’ students got to see their reactions live via Google Meet.
A wonderful example of creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning across grade levels!

Student Lighthouse will be holding Quarter Wars for the rest of the month. Students are encouraged to drop some change into the bucket for the teacher they want to see pied in the face! All money raised will go to the Pre-MAP Prep Assembly in April.

Due to snow covered roads and continued snow, the Northwest R-I School District will be closed for a traditional snow day on Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
Our last day of school is now scheduled to be Friday, May 30, 2025.
Stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy your snow day.

Good morning, Lion Nation. The snow band arrived early this morning and looks to keep going through the morning commute. Though this band is light, it will accumulate, and we are expecting heavy snow around dismissal.
Out of an abundance of precaution, the Northwest R-I School District will be closed on Tuesday, February 18, 2025. Be safe, stay warm, and enjoy your snow day.

Get your student a yearbook before it's too late! Contact Ms. Schnorbus with any questions at cschnorbus@northwestschools.net

🎉👮♂️ Happy School Resource Officer Day!👮♀️🎉
Today, we honor the dedication, hard work, and commitment of our incredible School Resource Officers (SROs). They do more than just keep our schools safe—they build strong relationships and create a positive environment where learning can thrive. 💙📚
Thank you to Deputy Belcher and Deputy Dennis, the two SROs in the Northwest district. Your impact is felt in every classroom, hallway, and heart.

Just a reminder there is no school on Friday, February 14 and Monday, February 17.

Due to forecasted wintry precipitation, the Northwest R-I School District will have an AMI DAY on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
PreK-5 students should check for teacher communications for AMI lessons.
Secondary students should check their email and Google Classroom for assignments.

This week's #TeacherProudTuesday honoree is Woodridge Middle School math teacher Kierstin Bueter! WMS principal Dr. Liz Green said of Mrs. Bueter, "She encourages students to be their authentic selves and always has an ear to listen." Congratulations on being this week's honoree, Mrs. Bueter, and thank you for all you do to teach the students of Woodridge Middle School!

Dobb's Diner had a lovely book tasting this week. What a fun way for students to explore new genres!

7th graders in Mrs. Brutcher's class had hands-on experience with the 3 types of rocks. Students were able to look at and classify the different characteristics of each rock type to help them study for their upcoming test.

Huge shout out to our amazing counselors, Ms. Bunse and Mr. Borroff today for Counselor Appreciation Day! They do so much for the students and staff behind the scenes that we would be lost without you both!

Congratulations to the February Students of the Month! Woodridge is proud of all of you!
