High Ridge Elementary Entry Rendering

The Northwest R-I School District held a groundbreaking ceremony on May 23, 2024 to celebrate and symbolize the renovation and construction of new entryways for three  schools this summer and early fall.

Secure vestibules are being added at High Ridge Elementary, Cedar Springs Elementary, and Woodridge Middle School. All other buildings in the district were completed with the 2018 Bond issue. These renovations are made possible through the passage of Proposition S in April 2023.

Northwest Superintendent Dr. Jennifer Hecktor said, “We are pleased to begin our exterior-facing secure entryways so our patrons can see the progress of our Proposition S projects. Up to this point, we have been doing a great deal of interior work such as improving plumbing, installing new fire alarm panels at every school, upgrading our security cameras, and increasing surveillance at all schools.

We want our buildings to be welcoming, warm environments, but we also want to ensure that our students and staff are safe and secure in our schools.  The completion of secure entryways at every building will provide an extra layer of safety that all schools realize is needed in today's world.”

Northwest is working with Paragon as the architect for all projects, and SM Wilson as the Construction Manager at Risk. Construction on all three projects begins immediately, and is expected to be completed this fall.
