Bus Routes & Schedules
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education established criteria related to bus routing and bus stops for school districts and transportation providers' guidance. Northwest adheres to the rules unless road conditions or safety concerns justify a variance. The criteria include the following:
No stop should be within 500 feet of another stop.
The school bus must be visible for at least 500 feet in each direction on a highway with no shoulder and a speed limit greater than 60 miles per hour. The bus must be visible for a least 300 feet in each direction on other roadways.
Bus Routes Available in Parent Portal
Families can access their child's bus route information by clicking here or by logging into the Parent Portal, which can be accessed by clicking "Students and Parents" on our website.
Log in as "Parent," then choose "More" at the bottom of the menu. Click Transportation to find out your child's bus route.
If you have any questions, please call the Bus Garage at 636-552-9235.
Bus Safety
What is the danger zone around a school bus?
The Danger Zone is the space all around the school bus. It extends out 10 feet (10 giant steps) in all directions. The School Bus Driver cannot see you in this zone. He or she cannot see you around the wheels either. It is very dangerous to be in the Danger Zone.
If you have to cross the road:
Make eye contact with the driver.
Wait for the driver to signal you when it is safe to cross.
Be sure it is safe - Look left, right, then left again.
NEVER CROSS BEHIND THE BUS.
Where should I stop when I see a school bus with red lights flashing and stop paddle out?
Whenever you see the alternating flashing red lights on a school bus, you must stop if you are on a two-lane roadway...
..or you are on a multiple-lane roadway, and you are traveling in the same direction as the bus.
